Wet Rooms &
Accessible Bathrooms.
Wet rooms, walk-in showers and accessible bathrooms across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Fully tanked, level-access and built to last, whether for easy living now or planning ahead.

A bathroom that works
for you, for years.
A wet room is one of the most practical and best-looking ways to update a bathroom. With no tray to step over and the shower open to the room, it is easier to use, easier to clean and feels far more spacious than a cramped cubicle. For some households it is about a sleek, modern look. For others it is about staying independent at home, with level access, grab rails and seating built in. For over 20 years, families across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire have trusted Granite Builders to design and fit wet rooms and accessible bathrooms that do exactly what they need.
The difference between a wet room that lasts and one that leaks is what happens under the tiles. We fully tank the space so it is completely waterproof, set the floor to fall correctly to the drain, and fit everything to a finish you will enjoy every day. It is the same care we bring to every bathroom we fit through our bathroom fitting team. As Federation of Master Builders members and a TrustMark registered business, we have been independently vetted, so the standard you are promised is the standard you get.

What a wet room fit includes. We start by stripping out the old bathroom and preparing the floor and walls. The critical stage is tanking, where we apply a full waterproof membrane across the floor and lower walls, then set the floor to fall to the drain so water always runs away cleanly. From there we tile, fit the shower, screens, sanitaryware, heating and any grab rails or seating, and finish with slip-resistant flooring where it is wanted. Everything is installed to current standards and left clean, watertight and ready to use. For accessible projects we plan the layout carefully around how the room will actually be used.
Waterproof where it counts.
Properly Tanked
A wet room lives or dies on its waterproofing. We fully tank the floor and walls before a single tile goes on, so the room stays dry underneath for the long term.
Set to Fall Correctly
We form the floor so it falls evenly to the drain, so water never pools. This is the detail that separates a lasting wet room from a wet floor.
Accessible by Design
For mobility projects we plan grab rails, seating, level access and slip-resistant floors around the person using the room, not as an afterthought.
Accredited, Not Just Insured
Federation of Master Builders membership and TrustMark registration mean we have been independently vetted against a Government-endorsed standard. These are not labels we gave ourselves.

How much does a wet
room cost in Aberdeen?
The price of a wet room depends on the size of the room, the specification you choose and how much preparation the space needs. Rather than quote a number that turns out to be meaningless, we price each project properly after a survey. The points below explain what drives the cost.
What is included. Our quotes cover strip-out, full tanking, floor forming, tiling, the shower, screens and sanitaryware, heating, any accessibility fittings, and finishing. We tell you upfront what sits outside the contract, so the final invoice holds no surprises. All figures are indicative only, subject to a site survey, and exclude VAT. We provide a detailed written quotation free of charge once we have seen the room.
From strip-out
to first shower.
A wet room is a focused job, so it moves quickly once we start, but the tanking has to be done right and given time to work. Here is an honest, typical shape once work begins. We confirm a programme for your specific room at quote stage.
As a guide, a wet room typically takes around 1 to 2 weeks on site from strip-out to a finished, watertight room ready to use. Larger or accessible bathrooms can take a little longer. All timescales are indicative only, subject to a site survey, and exclude VAT.

A family builder Aberdeen has trusted for over 20 years.
Granite Builders has been part of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire for over two decades. We are a family-run business, which means our reputation is personal. It is built one project at a time, and we intend to keep it that way.
Wet rooms and accessible bathrooms ask for care and honesty, because the waterproofing is hidden and the accessibility has to genuinely work for the person using it. That is the standard we have held for twenty years across the North East. We are proud Federation of Master Builders members and TrustMark registered, because those standards matter to the people who trust us with their homes.

Wet room questions, answered.
A walk-in shower has a low or level shower area within a normal bathroom floor, often with a glass screen. A true wet room has the whole floor tanked and set to fall to a drain, so the shower is open to the room with no tray at all. We fit both, and we help you choose which suits your room, your budget and how you want to use the space. Our bathrooms page covers full refits too.
Not when it is tanked properly, which is exactly why we never skip that stage. We apply a full waterproof membrane across the floor and lower walls, and set the floor to fall to the drain so water always runs away. Done this way, a wet room stays dry underneath for the long term. Poor waterproofing is the single most common reason cheap wet rooms fail, and it is the part we take most seriously.
Yes. We fit accessible bathrooms with level access, grab rails, shower seating, slip-resistant flooring and easy-reach controls, planned around how the person will actually use the room. Whether it is for staying independent at home now or planning ahead, we design the layout to be safe, comfortable and dignified, not clinical.
It depends on the size of the room, the specification you choose and how much preparation the space needs, so we do not quote a figure until we have seen it. After a free survey you receive a detailed written quote. All pricing is indicative only, subject to a site survey, and excludes VAT.
As a guide, a wet room typically takes around 1 to 2 weeks on site, from stripping out the old bathroom to a finished, watertight room ready to use. The tanking needs time to cure, which we build into the programme. Timescales are indicative only, subject to a site survey, and exclude VAT.
Yes. Wet rooms work upstairs as well as down, including on timber floors, which we prepare and strengthen as needed before tanking so the floor is solid and the waterproofing is sound. We confirm exactly what your floor needs at survey stage and include it in the quote.
